Station Improvements Create A Warmer Welcome for London Passengers

19

Jul 2012

Rail stations in London are looking brighter and more welcoming to passengers as cleaning and repainting work is completed by train operator Greater Anglia.

25 inner-London stations have received a ‘deep clean’ to remove unsightly gum, graffiti and stickers, eradicate weeds, erect anti-pigeon netting and repair or replace broken and damaged glazing.

Where needed, minor repairs have also been carried out to bring the station environments up to standard.

The stations to have benefitted from some TLC are: Bruce Grove, Bush Hill Park, Edmonton Green, Enfield Town, Rectory Road, Seven Sisters, Silver Street, Stamford Hill, Stoke Newington, Bethnal Green, Cambridge Heath, Chingford, Clapton, Hackney Downs, Highams Park, London Fields, St. James Street, Walthamstow Central, Wood Street, Cheshunt, Enfield Lock, Northumberland Park, Ponders End, Tottenham Hale and Turkey Street.

Keeley Pagdin, Head of Customer Services - West, said “Investment in facilities at stations is important to meet our customers’ expectations of good customer service and to encourage more people to travel by rail”.

The work has been carried out as the first part of Greater Anglia’s franchise commitment to refresh all 167 stations on the network.
