Take the Train at Weekends to Enjoy the Capital's Attractions

09

Aug 2012

Greater Anglia is reminding rail travellers in the region that mainline and West Anglia route train services to London Liverpool Street over the next 5 weekends are uninterrupted by any weekend improvement works, so that passengers can take the train to enjoy the attractions of the Capital in late-summer, ranging from the events in the Cultural Olympiad to the Paralympics, major exhibitions at the various museums and galleries, and classic destinations such as the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and St Paul's.

On the Great Eastern mainline route from Norwich, Ipswich and Colchester, a full Greater Anglia service will be in operation and good value advance fares available from just £8 single or £16 return from a number of stations in Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex. A full service will also be in operation on the West Anglia route from Cambridge, Stansted Airport and Harlow to London with great value return fares available from £14.80 from Cambridge and £11.30 from Harlow.

Other good value options are available including Groupsave when three or four people are travelling together and, on the intercity services between Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester and London, Weekend First supplements are available enabling customers to upgrade to First Class for just £7.00 per single journey. A number of great offers are also available for a range of attractions in London including 2for1 offers for the London Eye, City Cruises, Hampton Court Palace, London Dungeon and London Zoo.

Commenting on the extensive options for a great day out in the Capital, Ruud Haket, Greater Anglia's Managing Director said: "It's a superb time to visit London with a marvellous variety of attractions and special events taking place. With a full weekend service in operation and great value fares and excellent offers for the many tourist destinations, there's no better time to take the train for a hugely enjoyable Saturday or Sunday in one of the world's greatest cities.”
