Changes to Greater Anglia services and ticket office opening hours from Monday 30 March

Greater Anglia is making temporary changes to ticket office opening hours at some stations and reducing a small number of rural train services from Monday 30 March.

The company is taking this action as people are heeding Government lockdown advice to only travel if absolutely necessary, which is leading to further falls in passenger numbers.

The alterations will also enable the company to continue to provide core services for essential key workers.

Guided walks from Suffolk rail stations cancelled

Dates for free guided walks from rail stations in Suffolk have been cancelled due to the latest coronavirus advice.

The East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership was due to hold a guided walk on Saturday 21 March from Saxmundham to Darsham and another on Saturday 4 April from Trimley to Ipswich.

The Partnership’s Chairman, Aaron Taffera, said, “Following government advice to avoid all non-essential social contact, we have reluctantly decided to cancel these walks - but hope that others planned for later in the year can still run.

Greater Anglia reduced timetable from Monday 23 March

Greater Anglia is to operate a reduced timetable from Monday 23 March in the light of the coronavirus situation.

The service will be similar to a Sunday service, but with additional services at the start and the end of the day to enable passengers to get to and from work.

Most routes will see an hourly service throughout the day – although there will be a half-hourly service between Hertford East and Stratford and between Southend Victoria and London.
