Greater Anglia has submitted a bid for funding to help improve access to the Cambridge-bound platform at Wymondham station.
The company put in a proposal for Access for All funding in October under a new Government funding programme for schemes to improve station accessibility arrangements.
It’s part of a coordinated, partnership approach with Norfolk County Council and South Norfolk District Council to try to improve access to the westbound platform at the station.
Greater Anglia has cut down the time it takes for commuters to buy and collect a smart season ticket with a further upgrade of its ticket buying app.
The Greater Anglia app was upgraded earlier this year to offer ‘Remote Ticket Download’ on Android devices and has now been further improved to include iPhones.
This means that commuters who have one of the operator’s plastic Smart Cards can now collect their season tickets directly onto them using the app, no matter which type of phone they use.
Volunteers are planting almost 1,000 wild daffodil and crocus bulbs at Thetford rail station to create a bright carpet of blooms in the Spring.
The Friends of Thetford station were given the bulbs by Thetford Town Council to help prepare for Anglia In Bloom 2020.
The daffodils and crocuses – which provide early food for bumblebees – will complement other conservation planting and projects on the station, including the replanting of wildlife-friendly hedging and the installation of 10 bird boxes which saw two nests of sparrows fledge earlier this year.
