The first 100 carriages of Greater Anglia’s new electric commuter trains have now been built.
UK manufacturer Bombardier is building 111 new ten and five-carriage trains for Greater Anglia – 655 carriages in total - which will serve commuter lines into London Liverpool Street.
The twentieth train is now on the production line at Bombardier’s factory in Derby.
Rail pastors who help vulnerable people during their time of need, are now patrolling the Greater Anglia line between Shenfield and Southend Victoria.
Rail pastors patrol throughout the day and into the evening, visiting stations and boarding trains and helping anyone who is vulnerable, distressed, or in need of some help.
They can help people access any support services they may need, such as counselling.
A national campaign kicks off this week to encourage rail passengers to embrace new technology and move away from paper tickets.
‘Smart Week’, co-ordinated by the Rail Delivery Group, is an industry wide campaign which runs from 14 – 20 October.
It will see events at stations across the country – including nine of Greater Anglia’s busiest stations, Billericay, Bishop’s Stortford, Cambridge, Chelmsford, Colchester, Ipswich, Norwich, Wickford and Witham – to remind people of the benefits of digital tickets and encourage them to make the switch.
