Abellio Greater Anglia is again sponsoring Eastern Angles, the touring theatre company, extending a partnership between the region’s train provider and Eastern Angles which stretches back over 20 years.

Eastern Angles is just about to embark on its latest tour with its production of “Oysters” beginning at the John Peel Centre in Stowmarket on Wednesday 11 March.

“Oysters” is a tale of relationships, boat-building and bivalve molluscs. Mo has just turned fifty and busy restoring an oyster dredger recovered from an Essex riverbed. Helping him bring the boat back to life is Kasey, a young intern with a chip on her shoulder. When a piece of Mo's beloved dredger goes missing their lives are up-ended and the past floats to the surface. A new play by Ivan Cutting based on oral history interviews developed as part of the Pioneer Sailing Trust Land & Sea project.

“Oysters” tours across the region and in London between 11 March and 6 June 2015. Details of tour dates and ticket availability at: www.easternangles.co.uk

Jonathan Denby, Head of Corporate Affairs, Abellio Greater Anglia said: “We’re pleased to again support Eastern Angles with their latest exciting and dramatic production of “Oysters”. We share much common ground with Eastern Angles, and as the region’s train operator we serve many of the towns and localities where Eastern Angles regularly perform, and we’re delighted to help put something back into those communities with our support for the region’s premier theatre touring company.”

Ivan Cutting, Artistic Director, Eastern Angles said: “We believe very strongly in creating plays with a sense of place, for us that usually means a ‘place’ in East Anglia. One of the most satisfying things is then travelling around the region taking our theatre work like ‘Oysters’ out to audiences. We couldn’t do what we do without the support of companies like Abellio Greater Anglia whose own travelling network fits so neatly with our touring circuit. We are fantastically grateful for their continued sponsorship”.
