Abellio Greater Anglia has delivered its best period of train service performance for over a year. Figures released for the 4 weeks ending 28 May show that 92.54% of the operator's services ran on time, the best result for more than 12 months and amongst the best of the 4 year period since the company took over operation of rail services in the region in February 2012. The result was well above the national average for the period, which was 89.8%.

Particularly impressive results were achieved on the Great Eastern Main Line (from Norwich, Ipswich, Clacton, Harwich, Colchester and Chelmsford to London) and Southend to London services, where 94.08% of services arrived on time. There were also very good results on West Anglia services with 92.28% of services arriving on time, regional services with 91.97% of services on time and Stansted Express services with 91.61% on time.

Looking at more localised figures the best performance was on the Norwich to Sheringham line at 97.16%, followed by the Norwich to Great Yarmouth (96.35%), Manningtree to Harwich (95.65%) and Norwich to Lowestoft (95.44%) routes. Though slightly lower, the intercity service results (86.96%), were also amongst the best for those services over the last 12 months.

During the last year the train operator has invested significant sums in train reliability initiatives to improve performance across all of its fleet of trains. It has also worked closely with Network Rail to achieve better infrastructure performance. These latest results indicate progress in raising punctuality standards and the aim now is to maintain that positive momentum in the months ahead. The moving annual average punctuality for the company is now 89.2%, slightly ahead of ahead of the national average at 88.9%.

Jamie Burles Managing Director, Abellio Greater Anglia said: "We are pleased that we've achieved some very good train service performance for our customers in recent weeks, with the most punctual performance for over 12 months. Our sustained investment in train reliability modifications over the last two years, combined with our proactive partnership with Network Rail, is delivering some positive results. Our focus is on maintaining these encouraging trends to provide even better, more consistent performance on an ongoing basis."
