An £500K project to improve Kennett railway station begins next month as Abellio Greater Anglia invests in a complete upgrade to the platforms and waiting rooms.

The works will include:

Resurfacing of the platforms, including replacing the copers (slabs at the platform edge) and tactiles (the contoured slabs next to the copers which warn passengers both visually and by their texture of approach to the edge of the platform)

Installation of new waiting shelters on platforms 1 & 2

The demolition of some redundant buildings to tidy up the platforms

The installation of new cycle parking hoops, increasing the current cycle parking capacity from 12 to 18.

The work is expected to take 10 weeks and will commence in the summer. The work will be carried out predominantly at night to reduce disruption with hoarding only around the redundant buildings to be demolished.

The work is being carried out by SEE Rail Ltd.

Abellio Greater Anglia’s Area Customer Service Manager, Neil Grabham, said, “This is a significant upgrade to Kennett station which will create an improved ambience and pleasant station environment for our customers. Abellio Greater Anglia is committed to upgrades at stations across the network to improve the travelling experience and it seemed a good opportunity to carry out this work whilst engineering works are taking place.”
