Abellio Greater Anglia has completed an electrical upgrade at Spooner Row rail station to make it more energy-efficient.

The train operator’s ‘Rewire, Relight’ project has seen every lighting unit on the platforms replaced with more energy-efficient ones and a complete rewiring of the station.

New variable controls and automatic settings for the lighting will help to reduce electricity consumption and improve energy-efficiency, reducing the carbon footprint of the station on the Norwich - Cambridge route.

Abellio Greater Anglia’s Programme Delivery Manager, Simon Wilson, said, “The Rewire, Relight project is helping to create more energy-efficient stations and, at the same time, improve the station ambience and environment for passengers.”
