Abellio Greater Anglia has introduced an enhanced cleaning programme at Stratford rail station to maintain the high standards expected by customers.

The train operator is investing £250,000 in bringing the station environment up to standard with a renewed focus on cleanliness which will see a team of specialist cleaners descend on the station every night, thoroughly cleaning all areas of the station to remove grime and dirt.

The four dedicated cleaning specialists will use high pressure T5 Scrubber machines and steam cleaners to clean all the subways, stairs and the terrazzo tiles across the length of the station removing grime, stains and chewing gum in readiness for opening of the station at 0500 every morning.

During the day, the station cleaners will focus on eradicating litter and regularly emptying litter bins as well as maintaining tidy and clean waiting rooms, subways, platforms and toilets.

In addition, the duty customer service managers will undertake a daily ‘Station Standards’ audit to ensure that the new cleaning regime is making a positive difference to the customer’s experience of the station.

James Henry, Area Customer Service Manager, said, “With around 110,000 people passing through Stratford every day, it is really important that our cleaning regime is efficient and effective. This new programme has been designed so that we achieve the highest standards of cleanliness with no disruption to station users, as the majority of the work takes place overnight. I hope that customers will notice a real improvement to the station environment as our enhanced cleaning regime brings results.”
