Passengers at Witham rail station are benefitting from improved facilities thanks to a project to install a brand new disabled toilet facility at the station.

The new, easily accessible toilet at Witham will be officially opened by Priti Patel, MP for Witham, who will visit the station to meet Area Customer Service Manager, Simi Tinubu, and view the improvements on Friday 7 February.

The work was carried out by Hollywell Building Services and funded by train operator Abellio Greater Anglia helping to ensure that the station facilities comply with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act.

The company is committed to upgrades at all 167 stations on its network and has also recently installed new accessible toilet facilities at Audley End, Diss and Hockley stations.

The new facility is now complete and available for use.

Priti Patel MP said, “Customers travelling to and from Witham deserve to be able to use excellent toilet facilities and this new toilet will make an enormous difference to disabled passengers. I welcome this new investment in Witham train station and will continue to press for more facilities and better services for my constituents.”

Andrew Goodrum, Abellio Greater Anglia’s Customer Service Director, said, “We are delighted that the upgrade is now complete. The new facilities at Witham will be of great benefit to passengers using the station, creating a more comfortable environment for mobility-impaired customers as they wait for trains."
