Carnival fever is descending on Abellio Greater Anglia’s special services this weekend as the annual Harwich Festival street show takes place.

Trains departing Manningtree for Harwich Town on Saturday 4 July at 11am and 1pm will be packed with a free feast of entertainment.

The nautical-themed train will be decorated in a kaleidoscope of colour and festival fun on board the train will include performers and free activity packs for children.

Upon arrival in Harwich, a piper will lead travellers to the town centre where the show starts at 2pm. The annual spectacular includes street performers, artists from Brazil, theatre and dance groups. There is plenty to see and do around Harwich including visiting the Festival Art Quarter with its five galleries.

Passengers on the 11am service will arrive in time for the midday concert in St Nicholas Church for a song recital and there are plenty of places to eat and drink before the street show at 2pm.

Petrina Murphy, Area Customer Services Manager, said: “We run a small number of special themed trains throughout the year and these are always popular with passengers. The festival train is packed full of treats for children and we hope as many families as possible enjoy this great day out.

“We would like to thank our colleague at Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnerships for their help and hard work with the festival trains.”
