Train operator, Greater Anglia, has commenced a programme of improvement works at rail stations on the East Suffolk Line between Ipswich and Lowestoft to bring them up to standard in advance of the new hourly frequency timetable which will operate on the line from 10 December.

Stations on the line are being refreshed with a new coat of paint and new signage will be installed.

At selected stations on the route more work will be undertaken such as resurfacing of the platforms at Darsham and the installation of new car park lighting at Wickham Market.

At Halesworth the canopy has been refurbished and has also received a new coat of paint.

The refurbishment works will create a much more pleasant and welcoming environment for passengers in East Suffolk ready for the start of the new hourly service next month.

Greater Anglia’s Customer Services Director, Andrew Goodrum said, “We’re working hard to improve customer service across the Greater Anglia network and ensuring our passengers experience a clean and pleasant station is extremely important to us.

“Improving and enhancing stations through these improvement works is one way that we are demonstrating our determination to make a real difference for our customers in delivering our franchise commitments.”
