Cycle parking facilities have been upgraded at Sawbridgeworth rail station, increasing opportunities for rail passengers to cycle to and from the station.

The new covered, two-tier cycle racks and five traditional cycle racks, which together accommodate 40 cycles, will be located near the station entrance and almost doubles the availability of cycle parking spaces at the station.

The racks have been supplied and installed by Lock It Safe and were funded by the Network Rail Discretionary Fund.

Abellio Greater Anglia’s Customer Service Director, Andrew Goodrum, said, “We are committed to improving cycle facilities for our customers by installing more cycle parking spaces and the new facilities at Sawbridgeworth will offer customers an improved and more secure cycle storage facility.”

Since the franchise began in February 2012, Abellio Greater Anglia has implemented a wide variety of cycle-focused enhancements including upgrades to existing facilities, creating a new cycle strategy and increasing cycle parking across the network bringing the total number of cycle spaces to 6,000 and increasing cycle hire opportunities.

Abellio Greater Anglia was highly commended in the ‘Operator of the Year’ and the ‘Best Customer Service’ categories at the National Cycle Rail Awards 2012.
