Improvements to Hackney Downs station

Passengers using Hackney Downs rail station are benefitting from a better station environment thanks to improvement works carried out by Abellio Greater Anglia in partnership with Hackney Council.

Hackney Council has just completed resurfacing works of the station forecourt and adjacent pavement, creating a smarter entrance to the station that is safer underfoot.

In addition, Abellio Greater Anglia has been carrying out works to deter pigeons from nesting in the subway by installing pigeon-proof netting and equipment.

The work should significantly reduce the problems of pigeons in the subway and on the platforms.

Abellio Greater Anglia’s Area Customer Service Manager, Alan Neville, said, “In partnership with Hackney Council, we are pleased to deliver a better forecourt and other improvement measures to create a more pleasant environment for passengers using Hackney Downs station. I would like to thank our customers for their co-operation and patience while this work was carried out.”
