Greater Anglia has completed an improvement programme with investment of £30k to upgrade the customer screens on its 190 station-based automatic ticket vending machines located across the company’s network in London and East Anglia.

The ticket machines have been updated to feature a new and more customer-friendly screen layout which simplifies the method for ticket purchase by reducing the number of steps to complete a ticket transaction.

The ticket machine screens have also been updated to include relevant information concerning any travel restrictions that may apply to a particular ticket type, helping to ensure that customers are easily able to purchase the correct and most appropriate ticket for their intended journey.

The initiative to upgrade ticket machines is one of Greater Anglia’s franchise commitments and will be followed this summer by further investment in new and additional automatic ticket machines at key locations, helping to improve the service offered to customers at stations and ticket offices.

The work to simplify ticket purchasing from ticket machines reflects feedback received from passenger user groups to improve and speed-up the method for automatic ticket purchase.

The automatic ticket machines are situated at stations from Lowestoft and Southend Victoria in the east of the region to Cambridge and Hertford East in the west, including all major stations such as London Liverpool Street, Stansted Airport and Stratford.

Andrew Camp, Commercial Director, Greater Anglia said: “We’re delighted this investment will improve the service customers receive at automatic ticket machines, speeding up transactions and making ticket purchasing simpler.”
