Abellio train operator Greater Anglia won one award and was commended in another category at last night’s National Rail Awards.

Greater Anglia was one of 11 organisations to win a Judges' "Special award for Gold performance in Summer 2012", as a mark of their impressive achievements during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Greater Anglia’s Asset Management team was also highly commended in the Maintenance Team of the Year award for their work in improving station standards across their network - both through specific upgrade or enhancement schemes and through quicker and more effective rectification of faults. The judges noted the cost-effective nature of their work and their positive impact on customer satisfaction.

Three Greater Anglia stations were finalists in the Station of the Year award categories as follows:

Diss in Small Station of the Year
Stratford in Large Station of the Year
London Liverpool Street in Major Station of the Year

Ruud Haket Greater Anglia’s Managing Director said: “We know we have much more to do, but the recognition we have received at the National Rail Awards provides further evidence of the real progress we have made in delivering a better service for customers and communities across our region.”

These further independent endorsements for Greater Anglia's service improvements follow the company's success in winning the Train Operator of the Year award (at the Rail Business Awards in February) and the Outstanding Teamwork award for its Olympics and Paralympics customer service and performance (at the Rail Innovation Awards in June).
