Rail passengers will benefit from improvements to Southend Victoria rail station as Abellio Greater Anglia starts work to redevelop the booking hall.
The work will include:
a new manually-operated doorway to the main entrance
a new automatic door to the west entrance, compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act
a new suspended ceiling system with new lighting, CCTV & a Public Announcement system
refurbished flooring
glazing to the platform-side of the booking hall to reduce drafts
improvements to retail units within the station
Repair works to the ticket hall ceiling
New and additional seating on the concourse

An improved layout for the automatic ticket gates to reduce congestion at peak times
The work is expected to be completed in the autumn and will result in an improved, more modern and welcoming booking hall.
