A new ticket vending machine and CCTV has been installed at Prittlewell station, after an investment by train operator, Abellio Greater Anglia.

The new Scheidt & Bachmann ticket machine, which replaces the existing Pertis machine, accepts cash and card payments and, for the first time, allows customers to purchase ‘walk up and go’ tickets and collect pre-paid tickets and tickets which have been bought online. The machine also allows customers to purchase peak tickets for the following day from 12:00.

When purchasing a ticket, the screen will also display relevant information concerning any travel restrictions that may apply to a particular ticket type, helping to ensure that customers are easily able to purchase the correct and most appropriate ticket for their intended journey.

Andrew Camp, Commercial Director for Abellio Greater Anglia, said: “The new ticket machine will make it possible for customers using Prittlewell station to purchase their tickets before boarding the train, or collect tickets that they have previously bought online, and the installation of CCTV will enhance customers’ feelings of safety and security while they wait for trains. This investment shows our dedication to improving the service to our passengers.”
