Abellio Greater Anglia’s new timetable commences on Sunday 8 December.
The timetable, available on line at www.abelliogreateranglia.co.uk and from leaflet racks at most stations, features some notable improvements for passengers at two stations – Manea and Sawbridgeworth.
Manea station between Ipswich and Peterborough gains a huge improvement in services as all Abellio Greater Anglia services on Mondays to Saturdays will call there from early in the New Year. This major enhancement will see 20 trains a day stopping there instead of the current 4 – a 400% increase in services, which will transform rail accessibility for the local community. Abellio Greater Anglia has been keen to stop its services there, but the aspiration has become operationally practical as a result of investment by Network Rail in an additional platform and train capacity at Peterborough station.
The other notable upgrade sees four extra stops at Sawbridgeworth on evening services (on Mondays to Fridays) between London and Cambridge, responding to customer and stakeholder aspirations.
Other more minor changes planned in the new timetable are as follows :
On Metro services there are some minor timing changes to services between Shenfield and London Liverpool Street.
On the Mainline, there are slight alterations to services between Witham and Braintree; between Marks Tey and Sudbury and to two peak time services between London and Clacton/Ipswich. On Saturdays the 22.30 and 23.30 services from London Liverpool Street to Norwich will call additionally at Stratford.
On Rural routes there are timing changes to services between Norwich and Great Yarmouth/Lowestoft; Ipswich to Peterborough services linked to the additional stops at Manea) and the first Cambridge to Norwich train on a Saturday morning.
On the West Anglia routes there are there are slight changes to services from Hertford East to Stratford, Cambridge to Stratford, London Liverpool Street to Cheshunt and Cambridge to Ely. Sawbridgeworth passengers will benefit from the four additional services calling at the station on Mondays to Fridays. These are the 19.58, 20.58, 21.58 and 22.58 services from London Liverpool Street to Cambridge, calling at Sawbridgeworth at 20.34, 21.34, 22.34 and 23.34 respectively.
