Abellio Greater Anglia and Suffolk County Council project to deliver benefits for passengers.
Passengers using Felixstowe train station are set to benefit from the installation of a ticket vending machine later this year as a result of a joint project between Abellio Greater Anglia and Suffolk County Council. Customers travelling from the station will be able to purchase their train tickets before they travel and even collect tickets which they have bought "on-line".
The new machine will be equipped with the most up-to-date and customer-friendly screen layout helping to simplify the method for ticket purchase by reducing the number of steps to complete a ticket transaction. When purchasing a ticket, the screens also display relevant information concerning any travel restrictions that may apply to a particular ticket type, helping to ensure that customers are easily able to purchase the correct and most appropriate ticket for their intended journey. A CCTV camera will also be installed at the station which will increase passenger security and reassurance.
The initiative to upgrade and install the new ticket machine follows the success of similar initiatives at Woodbridge, Saxmundham and Beccles last year, markedly improving the service offered to customers at these stations which, like Felixstowe, do not have a ticket office.

The ticket machine will make ticket purchase much easier for passengers and enable tickets booked in advance to be picked up from the station. We are grateful for the support of Suffolk County Council in taking this customer and community-focused improvement forward and we look forward to completing the project in the autumn."
Graham Newman Cabinet Member for Roads, Transport and Planning for Suffolk County Council said, “We're delighted to be working together with Abellio Greater Anglia to provide a new ticket machine for passengers at Felixstowe station. It will make ticket purchase much easier for customers on this important corridor and enable them to take full advantage of advance purchase rates and pick up tickets bought on-line.”
Local councillor Nick Barber said "We welcome this upgrade, which will be convenient for passengers and more practical than buying tickets at the Tourist Information Centre, which was an option that existed for a time in the past, but wasn't ideal.”
