On our mainline route however, a number of contributing factors including an engineering work overrun, fatality incident and other infrastructure and fleet-related problems, adversely affected performance. We are continuing to focus our efforts, with our colleagues at Network Rail to improve consistency and reliability.”
The measure of train punctuality known as PPM (public performance manager) means trains arriving at their destinations within five minutes for commuter services and within 10 minutes for long distance (Intercity) services.
