Encouragingly, the specific MAA for the Stansted Express route of 90.83% is now at its highest since the current structure for the Greater Anglia rail franchise was set-up in 2004.

Jamie Burles, Managing Director, Abellio Greater Anglia said: “It is pleasing that overall our train service performance improved again in April, with good punctuality delivered across most of our network. On our mainline route however, a number of contributing factors including an engineering work overrun, fatality incident and other infrastructure and fleet-related problems, adversely affected performance. We are continuing to focus our efforts, with our colleagues at Network Rail to improve consistency and reliability.”

The measure of train punctuality known as PPM (public performance manager) means trains arriving at their destinations within five minutes for commuter services and within 10 minutes for long distance (Intercity) services.
