Train punctuality for Abellio Greater Anglia in the most recent four-week period ended 21 June 2014 is 92%, as published by Network Rail in the latest public performance measure (PPM) national train performance figures for the rail industry Period 3 (2014/15). The national performance figure for Period 3 covering all Britain’s railways is 91.7%.

A signalling problem at Cheshunt on 28 May adversely affected Stansted Express and West Anglia services, and an overhead power line fault near Chelmsford on 17 June caused disruption to Mainline services that evening. Signalling problems at Liverpool Street also disrupted services on the morning of 18 June.

The current moving annual average (MAA) performance figure to the end of Period 3 for Abellio Greater Anglia is 91.2% (this measures the average punctuality for the past 13 periods of train performance).

Jamie Burles, Managing Director, Abellio Greater Anglia said: “Although train service performance in the most recent four-week period continued above the national average, I am sorry that services were disrupted on certain days during this time. We are implementing a number of actions with our colleagues from Network Rail to enhance maintenance regimes and improve information provision to both try and prevent future disruption and to handle things much better if they do go wrong. We are absolutely committed to providing the best possible service and we are determined to avoid a repetition of these problems.”

• The measure of train punctuality known as PPM (public performance measure) means trains arriving at their destinations within five minutes for commuter services and within 10 minutes for long distance (Intercity) services.
