Rail passengers using Hatfield Peverel rail station are to benefit from a better waiting environment thanks to an improvement scheme being carried out by Abellio Greater Anglia.

Work commenced this week to upgrade the ticket office and waiting room area with DDA compliant push button automatic doors, energy-efficient heating, as well as new flooring, seating and redecoration in Abellio Greater Anglia colours.

The waiting area will also offer passengers the opportunity to charge laptops and mobile phones and work while they wait with plug sockets, tables and comfortable seating.

The work is due to be completed later in the Spring and the waiting room will be out of use until the work is complete.

The Ticket Office, which is within the waiting room area, will also be closed from 10am each day until the work is complete. Customer Service Assistants will be available on the platform to assist passengers during normal ticket office hours (after 10am) to provide information and sell tickets from handheld machines.

Simi Tinubu, Area Customer Service Manager, said, “The refurbishment project will deliver a much-improved, more comfortable waiting environment for our passengers. Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Abellio Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service to our customers. I would like to thank customers for their patience while the work is being carried out and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
