Rail passengers using Rayleigh and Prittlewell rail stations are to benefit from a better waiting environment thanks to an improvement scheme being carried out by Abellio Greater Anglia.

The work begins today, Monday 10th August, to upgrade the waiting rooms, which will benefit from DDA compliant push button automatic doors, a train departure summary screen and energy-efficient heating, as well as new flooring and seating and redecoration in Abellio Greater Anglia colours.

They will also offer passengers the opportunity to charge laptops and mobile phones and work while they wait with specially-made wall mounted work tops with plug sockets and bar stools.

The work is due to be completed later this summer and the waiting room will be out of use until the work is complete.

Flavio Lopes, Area Customer Service Manager, said, “This is an exciting project for these stations which will deliver a much-improved, more comfortable waiting environment for our passengers. Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Abellio Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service to our customers. I would like to thank customers for their patience while the work is being carried out and apologise for any inconvenience caused."
