Nine young people from the Southend and Basildon area have been learning about customer service with train operator Abellio Greater Anglia.

The train operator provided a two week work experience placement for the 18-25 year olds as part of The Prince’s Trust ‘Get into Customer Service’ programme, in partnership with South Essex College.

The nine young people completed two week’s training followed by two week’s work experience in customer service to help them progress into employment in the sector, working alongside the company’s Welcome Hosts at Shenfield, Wickford, Billericay and Southend Victoria rail stations.

On completion of their work experience, the group enjoyed a celebration event at South Essex College, Basildon, on 17th June. Following the programme, the young people will receive support from The Prince’s Trust to progress into employment, education or training.

Abellio Greater Anglia’s Area Customer Service Manager, Flavio Lopes, said, “At Abellio Greater Anglia customer service is at the heart of everything we do and we are happy to pass this on through training schemes such as the Prince’s Trust work experience placements. We were delighted with the enthusiasm and attitude of the young people involved and wish them every success in their future careers.”
