Friends, family and fellow Cantley Station adopters turned out in force to pay tribute to John Smeethe, friend of Cantley Station, who died suddenly last year.

Lin Smeethe unveiled a plaque in memory of her husband who was a valued member of the team that look after the gardens at Cantley Station.

Unveiling the plaque, Lin thanked everyone for their support and said “John would be overwhelmed with all of this, thank you so much”.

Geraint Hughes, Partnerships Manager for Abellio Greater Anglia said:

“Cantley Station is an absolute stand out station, the volunteer group that John was a part of is incredibly talented. We always use Cantley as a bench mark of what a fantastic station looks like. We pay tribute to John, he was a great guy and will be sadly missed.”

Members of FOCUS (Friends of Cantley Station) Robert Beadle, Ray Smith, Carole Grimes, Tim Drew, David Howlett and Steve Bennett have achieved a spectacular garden this year, what better tribute to John than to continue to do what they all loved doing together.
