Staff at Greater Anglia’s Colchester Station are celebrating after winning a surprise award at the annual Colchester in Bloom awards.

The Colchester station team won a ‘Special Contribution’ award in the ‘Transport’ category.

Colchester station is adorned with numerous flower planters and hanging baskets filled with colourful seasonal bedding plants such as Geraniums and Begonias. The striking floral displays came about as a result of a partnership between Colchester in Bloom and Greater Anglia; and the local station team have diligently nurtured the displays since their creation earlier in the summer.

Representatives of Colchester in Bloom, Dave Harris, Secretary of Colchester in Bloom and Pam Schomberg, Chairperson of Colchester in Bloom, visited Colchester station today to congratulate the local team and thank them for their efforts.

Pam Schomberg, Chairperson of Colchester in Bloom said: “On entering the station the floral displays make a huge impression and provide lots of seasonal colour for the enjoyment of customers and staff alike. I’d like to thank the Colchester station staff for tending the flowers at the station so carefully and congratulate them on their award.”

Sham Rashid Greater Anglia’s Area Customer Service Manager said: “The award came as a great surprise to us and I am delighted that the team at Colchester has received this recognition.”

The annual Colchester in Bloom award ceremony was held on Sunday 9 September at the Firstsite Art Gallery in Colchester.
