Greater Anglia's Sophie's Christmas Day Dip

Tuesday, 8 January 2013

Greater Anglia’s Sophie Williams has taken a dip in the North Sea to raise funds for the St Elizabeth Hospice, in Ipswich, Suffolk.

On Christmas Day, daring Sophie braved the icy temperatures to leap into the North Sea off the Felixstowe seafront, to take part in the hospice’s annual ‘Christmas Day Dip’ with around 400 other participants.

The St Elizabeth Hospice improves life for people living with a progressive illness. Their work is centred around an individual's needs, which means specialist support, wherever it is required, whether at home, in the community or at the Hospice. The hospice helps people deal with problems such as pain, anxiety and fatigue, as well as offering practical advice and family support.

St Elizabeth Hospice is an independent charity which provides services free of charge, to people across East Suffolk, North Essex and South-East Norfolk.

Sophie Williams, who works with the Greater Anglia finance team in Colchester said:

“I wanted to help the hospice after seeing the fantastic support they gave my Mum, so I decided to take part in their annual Christmas Day Dip.  My colleagues at Greater Anglia have been a great help and together with my father and uncle, we’ve raised around £1500 for the Hospice.”
