Greater Anglia has received a ‘Park Mark’ award, recognising levels of safety and security at its Highams Park station car park.

The Park Mark demonstrates that the car park has measures in place to deter crime and anti-social behaviour, and has been risk assessed by the police, thus making the car park a safer environment for both customers and their vehicles.

The award was bestowed on the station under the Safer Parking Scheme run by the Associations of Chief Police Officers.

The scheme is aimed at reducing crime and the fear of crime in parking facilities. Facilities that meet the criteria for safety and security of vehicles and car park users, after an assessment by the Police, are granted Safer Parking Status and given a ‘Park Mark’ award.

The Park Mark award for Highams Park station car park means that the parking operator, NCP, has put in place measures that help to deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour, thereby doing everything they can to prevent crime and reduce the fear of crime in their parking facility.

Greater Anglia currently has Park Mark awards at 45 of its station car parks and is working with NCP to achieve more in 2013.

Greater Anglia’s Customer Service Director, Andrew Goodrum, said, “Passenger safety is our top priority and I am delighted that Highams Park has been given a Park Mark award. I hope it will give station users confidence that we take their safety and security very seriously, not only on trains and stations, but in our parking facilities too. I would like to congratulate the station team and NCP on achieving this award.”

Stuart Marchant, Contracts Manager for National Car Parks said “NCP takes the safety and security of our customers very seriously and we have been very pleased with the close working relationship between ourselves, the rail operator Greater Anglia and the British Transport Police that have enabled us to successfully attain the Park Mark awards.”
