The East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership is set to host another of its hugely popular free guided railway walks on Saturday, April 28 providing the opportunity to explore the Garden Of Suffolk, the Pastures of Rookery Park and the village of Yoxford.

Starting from Saxmundham Railway Station (on the Ipswich to Lowestoft line) at 11am, the route follows footpaths, farm tracks and country lanes as it takes walkers towards Darsham Station. Those arriving at the departure point by train will have the opportunity to enter a draw for a chance to win a pair of return rail tickets to anywhere on the Greater Anglia network.

Covering 6.25 miles of beautiful Suffolk Countryside, the ramble, which is free to participate in, is anticipated to take around 3.5 hours to complete. The walk has been timed to coincide with arrival at Saxmundham Station of the 10.07 Greater Anglia train from Lowestoft, the 10.17 service from Ipswich and the 09.28 from Felixstowe (change at Ipswich). Return train services run hourly from Darsham Station.

The East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership have published over 140 miles of walks which link with railway stations across the east of the county. Twenty of these walks are free to download from their website at www.eastsuffolklines.co.uk A comprehensive new printed edition of the popular guide is currently in production and anticipated to be available this Summer.

There is no need to book for this walk although those taking part are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear, bring water and a snack. There will also be opportunities to purchase refreshments at the end of the route. The walk may contain some ground which is uneven and those taking part do so at their own risk.

Although most East Suffolk Lines Guided Walks welcome well behaved dogs, regrettably on this occasion dogs are prohibited due to parts of the route crossing pastures which contain cattle.
