A host of colourful artwork is now on display at a Norfolk village railway station following a Community Rail sponsored school poster competition which took place as part of the popular Cantley & District Flower Show earlier this month.

In September each year, the people of Cantley and surrounding area are invited to submit a wide variety of produce and crafts to the popular competition with a host of categories including Flowers, Vegetables, Fruit, Cookery and Sugar Craft open to all ages and ability. As part of the event, students from Cantley School were invited to submit artwork featuring trains with prizes of book tokens given to the winners. In addition, train operator Greater Anglia has also provided a free rail trip for an entire class of lucky pupils.

Awards were presented by Cllr Andrew Procter, Leader of Norfolk County Council, assisted by Robert Beadle, Chair of the Flower Show. First prizes in the school artwork competition went to Arun Thompson and William Tate, each receiving book tokens with Class 4 winning the Rail Trip. Top overall prize at the festival went to Carol Drew who won the Henry Preston Cup for her Sugar Craft. Other winners included Jamie Howlett for Best Rose, David Howlett for Best Runner Beans and Michael Brook was awarded the Wherry Lines Community Rail Cup for his fruit.
