Art lovers, rejoice! There are some fascinating exhibitions to catch in East Anglia this winter.

Skating, a new show at the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art in Newmarket (until 28 April; palacehousenewmarket.co.uk), explores the pastime of ice skating and includes 17th-century Flemish paintings and Victorian panoramic scenes.

The Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge will be showing highlights from the collection bequeathed to it by Sir Ivor and Lady Batchelor, including drawings by Dante Gabriel Rossetti and John Ruskin (until 3 March; fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk).

Over in Great Yarmouth, roll up for Time and Tide Museum’s Circus: Show of Shows, a colourful exhibition detailing the origins of circuses (until 3 March; museums.norfolk.gov.uk/time-tide). Also in Norfolk, Elisabeth Frink: Humans and Other Animals, at the Sainsbury Centre in Norwich, is not to be missed and features over 130 works by the artist (until 24 February; scva.ac.uk).
