Following an earlier broken down freight train between Newport Essex and Elsenham all lines have now reopened.
Train services running through these stations are returning to normal but some services may still be delayed by up to 28 minutes. Disruption is expected until 23:45 27/05.
A Freight train (for engineering work) had come to a stand on the London bound line between Newport and Elsenham after a problem with the brakes on some wagons was reported. The driver had to block all lines whilst he carried out safety checks and resolved the problems to allow the train to move at 22:40.
As a consequence of this incident the following trains have been delayed: The 21:28 London Liverpool Street to Cambridge (32 minutes late from Bishop's Stortford), the 22:04 Cambridge to Liverpool Street (19 minutes late from Audley End) and the 22:05 Stansted Airport to Cambridge (28 minutes late from Elsenham)
