Help was on hand for rail passengers at Great Yarmouth station yesterday (16 July), thanks to the launch of a new ‘Travel Team’ dedicated to making their lives easier.

The new team talked to passengers about all aspects of their journey, from how they find out journey information, how they book tickets and which trains they travel on and then advising on changes that could save customers time or money.

They also called into Acle station to show people how to use the newly installed ticket machine, as it is the first time that the station has ever had one.

The new machine features the technology to connect passengers - via an audio link – to one of 13 Greater Anglia ticket sellers who are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to help them choose and buy the right tickets for their journey.

Travel Team manager, Jackie Rathbone, said, “We’re actively showing customers the different ticket buying choices they have, getting them on their way more quickly and making their journey better.”

“It’s all part of continually improving the service we offer to passengers.”

For example, passengers who routinely use a ticket machine to buy their ticket are learning that it can be even simpler for them to book their ticket online or on the company’s app. The team can even take them through the process step by step.

Passengers who renew their season ticket at the ticket office are being reminded of the benefits of swapping to a more durable Smart Card that they can simply tap to pass through ticket gates.

The team can even advise passengers on which services to take where more seats might be available, to ensure a comfortable journey, or what the quietest times of day are to come to the ticket office to buy a ticket ahead of time or renew a season ticket.

The team of eight will travel to various stations across the Greater Anglia network this summer.
