Bargain tickets are now on sale for special train rides to the Essex Coast later this month, with fun on the train on the way to the seaside, as well as plenty of time to enjoy the beach when you are there.

‘Bucket and Spade’ trains will run from Colchester to Walton-on-the-Naze at 09.56 on Thursday 16 and 30 August 2018, provided by Greater Anglia and the Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership (CRP).

The tickets – priced at just £5 return for an adult and £3 return for a child - are only available online at www.esscrp.org.uk – and include a free bucket and spade for every child.

The special Greater Anglia trains will be decked-out with a seaside theme and there will be lots of fun on board. Children will be given buckets and spades and treats for the journey.

As an added attraction, the Grand Theatre of Lemmings will be performing at Walton market square on 30 August.

Lynda Stone, Community Rail Partnership Officer for Essex County Council said, “We hope many families will join us for this great day out by train to the Essex seaside. They will be able to spend the day enjoying all that Walton-on-the-Naze has to offer and return at their leisure by any train. We have already held one successful bucket and spade train event, which was enjoyed by more than 100 people.”

Paul Haynes, Community Partnerships Manager, Greater Anglia, said: “A day out by rail offers so much fun for families and it’s so easy and good value. We hope these trips will be a great success.”

The event has been organised by the Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership, which works to promote local rail services and help develop them in line with the needs of the local community. Members of the partnership include Greater Anglia and Essex County Council.
