Colchester rail station waiting room has been transformed into an art gallery, thanks to a local sixth form college and the Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership.

An exhibition of 26 works by art students at Colchester Sixth Form College is now on display and was unveiled by the students on 15 November.

Community Rail Partnership Officer, Terri Ryland, said, “I am really impressed by the stunning quality of work the students have produced.

“It has transformed the waiting room and will not only provide a source of interest while people wait for their trains, but bring the students’ work to an audience of thousands who pass through the station every day.”

Alan Neville, Greater Anglia’s Customer and Community Engagement Manager, said, “We were very pleased to donate the space for this excellent project and are grateful to the students, the College and the Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership for putting together such a high quality exhibition that will delight passengers.”

The Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership is an initiative involving Greater Anglia, Essex County Council and local organisations aimed at helping the rail lines and the communities they serve to thrive.
