Work will begin next week to upgrade cycle parking at Elsenham station.

A project to upgrade the cycle storage on platform 1 and install a new shelter which will be able to accommodate four additional spaces will start on Monday 20 July, and is expected to take a week to complete.

Once the work is completed, there will be space for 12 cycles.

Customers are advised that they will not be able to use the existing cycle storage on platform 1 from Friday 17 July. Temporary storage still will be provided at the station until the new shelter is completed.

Simone Bailey, Greater Anglia’s Asset Management Director, said: "We’re investing £12,000 in improving cycle facilities at Elsenham, which we’re confident will be popular with customers.

"With more people choosing to live in our region and travel by train, we are seeing increasing numbers of people cycling to stations so we’re keen to expand our cycling facilities, especially as it helps people to minimise their carbon footprint for the entire length of their journeys."
