Rail passengers in East Anglia are now able to buy Advance tickets on the day of travel as Greater Anglia has introduced a new great value fare.

Advance purchase tickets, which must be used on specified services, are usually cheaper than single fares bought on the day of travel.

Previously, they could only be bought up to 23.59 the night before travel, but now Greater Anglia is launching Advance Purchase on the Day tickets, which will be available up to ten minutes before travelling.

The new tickets are only be available to buy either online or via the Greater Anglia app.

Advance Purchase on the Day tickets are on sale for peak and off-peak trains. They must be used for specified services, but do not come with seat reservations. They are cheaper than the equivalent single fare.

Meanwhile, Greater Anglia has also cut the price of Cambridge to London Liverpool Street Super Off-Peak Travelcard, which now costs £23.

Andy Camp, Greater Anglia Commercial Director, said: “We know that many customers want cheaper rail fares. Many of our fares are regulated by the government, but we are able to introduce some special offers and fares, such as these new great value fares we’ve just launched.

“I hope customers will enjoy cheaper trips across the network as a result.”
