Greater Anglia is making it easier to buy and use train tickets by bringing in new E-tickets to replace Print Your Own tickets.

E-tickets, available at greateranglia.co.uk, are easier to use and can either be printed or shown on a mobile device and simply scanned at the barcode readers to pass through the ticket gates.

Coming in on Saturday 1 April, E-tickets have been specially optimised for mobile devices and appear on-screen as a scrollable ticket with a barcode at the top, followed by the ticket information such as journey, type, route, passenger and validity, followed by the reservation information and ticket terms and conditions at the bottom.

The E-ticket can be selected as an option when purchasing tickets online through the Greater Anglia website, and can either be printed, or shown on a mobile phone.

Andy Camp, Greater Anglia Commercial Director, said: “We are committed to offering our customers great value fares and to making it as easy as possible for them to use our services. We recognise that not everyone has access to a printer, and it’s much more convenient to show the ticket on your phone. It’s also more environmentally friendly.”

Since the start of the franchise, Greater Anglia has also introduced a new fares “Price Promise” (guaranteeing the best price possible if customers book via the Greater Anglia website or app, or refunding the difference if they find the same ticket cheaper elsewhere) and a Best Fare Finder, which allows customers to find the cheapest Advance fares available over a 5 day period.
