Greater Anglia is providing additional train services to the Clacton Airshow this year.
The event, which will take place on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 August, is now in its 28th year.
Extra trains will run on both days of this year’s Clacton Airshow between Colchester and Clacton-on-Sea (serving intermediate stations including Hythe, Wivenhoe, Alresford, Great Bentley, Weeley and Thorpe-le-Soken) and Clacton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze.
On both days there will be 17 additional services between Clacton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze and four additional services between Colchester and the Clacton. The railway station in just a 10 minute walk from the seafront.
More than a quarter of a million people are expected to line the seafront to enjoy this year’s impressive aerobatic displays.
James Steward, Greater Anglia’s Area Customer Service Manager, said: “We’re very pleased to be supporting the Clacton airshow by running extra trains.
“People can leave the car at home and take the train to Clacton to enjoy airshow the without worrying about driving and parking. The Clacton Airshow is an award-winning event and a great family day out.”
To avoid queueing to buy tickets, passengers are advised to get them in advance online or via the Greater Anglia app to reduce their waiting times at the station. To save money, groups of three or more people can travel using Groupsave.
Greater Anglia is advising passengers that there are still likely to be large queues and very busy trains, because of the expected numbers of people. Extra staff will be on hand to help on both days.
