Richard Dean, Greater Anglia Train Service Delivery Director, said: “We will be running a full service for each of the RMT strike days on January 8. 10 and 12. We’re very disappointed that the strike is going ahead, as we believe the best way to end this dispute is by constructive talks with union officials.

“We are keeping our safety-trained conductors on our trains. In fact, we will be recruiting more when we get our new trains. We have guaranteed their jobs right until the end of the franchise in October 2025.

“We believe our conductors do a great job helping customers, which is why we want them to concentrate on customer service rather than opening and closing train doors when we get our brand new trains from 2019.”
