The team responsible for recruiting new people to work at Greater Anglia is celebrating after scooping two national awards, beating blue chip opposition.

The recruitment team, based in Stratford, picked up the Gold award for Onboarding Programme of the Year at The Learning Awards 2018 and were awarded Best Candidate Experience at the RAD Awards.

The RAD awards celebrate the best recruitment communications. Greater Anglia faced competition from Shell and Barclays.

The team was praised for its creativity and for designing a recruitment programme which included video, technology and people interaction.

At the Learning Awards, which celebrate workplace learning and development, the team was commended for the fact that the process began before the person joins the business, and continues from day one on the job.

This was a new experience where every new employee – from a cleaner to a company director – undertake the same process together. The panel also noted that recruitment, hiring and Onboarding were seamlessly linked.

Urmish Patel, Head of Resourcing at Greater Anglia, said: “We are very pleased that our Resourcing team has been recognised for its excellent work. Over the past 12 months they have worked to create a new scheme to welcome new recruits.

“Our on-boarding programme is concerned with getting the right people into the right jobs, and making sure our new recruits have everything they need to start work. We have more than 3,000 employees in the UK. The rail industry is a great place to work and offers many opportunities to progress.

“In 2017, more than 12,000 people applied to work at Greater Anglia so it’s important that the recruitment process is as seamless as possible. I would like to congratulate the team for their continued hard work.”
