Long evenings and summer nights in London are one of the many things that make the capital city so great. From drinks on a rooftop bar overlooking the city’s sparkling lights, to riding the London Eye and watching the sunset over the capital. There is another side to see of London when the grey clouds clear, the sun appears, and the temperature remains mild long into the evening.

With a host of evening events, pop-ups and late-night activities a plenty throughout the summer months, spending just the day in the city is not always enough.

To enable customers to stay and enjoy fun in the capital overnight, Greater Anglia is introducing a ‘London Overnight Return’ ticket option - available for journeys between stations on the Great Eastern main line from Colchester and northwards, including branch line stations, and London or Stratford – from just £23.00 per person return.

The new late return tickets will allow travellers to spend the evening in London without the worry of having to pay for another ticket for their return home or leaving the party early to catch the last train. Available for advance purchase, the tickets are valid on a specific outward journey, but allow customers to return on any train departing London Liverpool St between 09.30 and 12.00 noon the following weekday, or on any train until 12.00 noon on weekends.

For those traveling into London and planning on staying for the evening, Greater Anglia has compiled a list of the top must-do late-night events and activities:

LOVEBOX FESTIVAL

The countdown is on to Lovebox, a two-day music festival, which this year is moving to Gunnersbury Park, London. Known for falling at a similar time of the year to Pride London, it’s a celebration of colour and everything that makes London such a great city! Purchase the new overnight Greater Anglia ticket to make sure you can stay until Childish Gambino or one of the other headliners have left the stage, without worrying about catching the last train home.

DANCING ON THE CEILING

Dalston Roof Park is one of the best places to go during the summer months. Famed for its jam-packed event listings of big-name bands, DJs and fun-filled club nights, you won’t be short of things to do. Dalston is known for being an up-and-coming area, so the Roof Park is one of the hottest places to be seen this summer. Greater Anglia have made it easier to visit the East London hot spot with the overnight ticket, meaning you won’t have to worry about traveling home on the same day and can stay out late enjoying the lively Hackney atmosphere.

BANGED UP IN THE CAPITAL

Inspired by Hollywood Movies and TV shows that have brought to life America’s most infamous prison, Alcotraz is London's first immersive theatrical cocktail bar. From the orange jumpsuits available upon entrance to the real metallic cells, Alcotraz is the perfect backdrop to enjoy a drink within an epic yet intimate environment. So, whether you get sentenced for the evening or not, you can immerse yourself in the experience and stay out as late as you want.
