Extra help is on hand for rail passengers at Greater Anglia stations, thanks to the launch of a new ‘Travel Team’.

The new team is talking to passengers about all aspects of their journey, from how they find out journey information, how they book tickets, which trains they should take and then advising on changes that could save customers time or money.

The team has been at Chelmsford station for the last fortnight. Travel Team manager, Jackie Rathbone, said, “In that time we’ve helped over 250 people find out if there are better options for their journey, and shown them how to buy tickets online or use a ticket machine.

"We’re actively showing customers the different ticket buying choices they have, getting them on their way more quickly and making their journey better.

"It’s all part of continually improving the service we offer to passengers.”

For example, passengers who routinely use a ticket machine to buy their ticket are learning that it can be even simpler for them to book their ticket online or on the company’s app. The team can even take them through the process step by step.

Passengers who renew their season ticket at the ticket office are being reminded of the benefits of swapping to a more durable Smart Card that they can simply tap to pass through ticket gates.

The team can even advise passengers on which services to take where more seats might be available, to ensure a comfortable journey, or what the quietest times of day are to come to the ticket office to buy a ticket ahead of time or renew a season ticket.

The team of seven will travel to various stations across the Greater Anglia network this summer and will also be on hand when new ticket machines are installed, to help show passengers how to use them.
