Rail passengers using Harlow Town rail station are benefiting from a new waiting room.

Greater Anglia has converted the open seating area on the overbridge into an enclosed waiting room with new seating, automatic doors to provide easy access for those with mobility issues, pushchairs and luggage, and charging points for laptops and mobile phones.

The new facility also benefits from a train departure summary screen, new flooring and energy-efficient heating.

Around 1 million people used Harlow Town last year.

Simone Bailey, Greater Anglia’s Asset Management Director, said, “The aim was to deliver a warmer, more comfortable and easily accessible waiting room for our passengers.

“Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service to our customers.”

The additional investment comes as Greater Anglia continues its transformation of the railway in East Anglia, which will see £60 million spent on stations during the course of its franchise and £1.4 billion spent on introducing a brand new fleet of trains across the network.
