Children from Spring Meadow Infant and Nursery School will visit Ely rail station this Thursday to hang their handmade Easter decorations on the station tree.

Around 100 4-5 year olds from Bluebell Class, Daisy Class, Poppy Class and Buttercup Class have been busy creating a variety of decorated eggs and chicks using cardboard, paint, felt, marbling techniques, collage and feathers to help brighten the station and bring Easter cheer to commuters as they pass through the station.

The school was approached by the staff at Ely station to help with bringing the station’s tree back to life after the Christmas decorations were removed.

Paul Stannard, Greater Anglia’s Area Customer Service Manager, said, “We’re very grateful to the children of Spring Meadow Infant and Nursery School whose decorations will really brighten the station. The children have helped us to prove that when communities work together we can help to spread a bit of happiness and improve our surroundings.”
