Greater Anglia has acquired additional land adjacent to its existing 450 space car park, enabling the train operator to increase the car park’s size by almost a third.

The land is currently being cleared and prepared and work is expected to get fully underway later this year.

As part of the project, the car park will benefit from new more energy-efficient LED lighting and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), which will make it easier for customers to pay for parking by a variety of methods.

Simone Bailey, Greater Anglia's Asset Management Director, said: “We are pleased to have been able to acquire the additional land which will enable us to improve Broxbourne station’s car park. This will help us to ensure that it can cope with increasing demand for spaces and improve the facilities for customers."

The work is part of a £25 million investment in improving car parks including installing ANPR at 20 car parks, adding an extra 1,782 spaces, fitting LED lights, improving CCTV and security and re-surfacing.
