A Greater Anglia spokesperson said: "We are currently running an hourly service between Norwich and Ely. Services will depart Norwich for Ely at xx.40.

"Network Rail engineers are currently on site working to fix the fault, which was caused by a lightning strike yesterday. However trains are able to run at a reduced speed on the line. Customers travelling between Norwich and Ely should allow an additional 20 minutes for their journeys today.

“We apologise to passengers for the disruption and inconvenience caused.”
