Welcome to Greater Anglia.
A railway for you - powering progress
It's an exciting time for our region's railways. We're all set to deliver major transformation across the network with a £1.4 billion investment. That means new trains, more frequent services and more capacity. It also means faster journey times on key routes.
You've told us what you want from your railway. And we're responding. By 2020 you'll experience a service that's completely reformed, revitalised and regenerated. Here are just some of the major innovations you can expect to see:
New trains and more seats
We’re investing in a full fleet of trains - they’ll start arriving in 2019 and will all be in service by the end of 2020. In total, there’ll be 1043 new carriages. This includes Greater Anglia’s first set of 38, more energy efficient, diesel/ electric bi-mode trains which can operate on all areas of the network so passengers don’t need to change trains on certain lines.
Faster and more frequent services
We'll be cutting the journey times on some London services (Norwich in 90, Ipswich in 56) and providing 33,000 extra seats for weekday commuters. We'll also be upping the frequency with more off-peak services from Hertford East and Southend from May 2020.
And that's not all...
There are many other improvements to look forward to, including new station shops and cafés, as well as more car and cycle parking spaces.
